Swedish Press To Boycott Britney Spears Show

Stockholm, Sweden (CNS) - The Swedish press don’t want a piece of Britney Spears. In fact, they’re planning on boycotting the pop star’s upcoming tour date in Stockholm.

Spears will perform at the Globe Arena on Monday but Sweden’s four national newspapers won’t be covering it, citing diva-ish demands in her contract for use of the pictures taken by photographers at the concert. Spears’ contract asks media outlets wishing to photograph the event not to publish the photographs after 30 days and that none of the pictures can be offered for resale.

They also prohibit the papers from publishing pictures of Spears which could be deemed unflattering. They also ask that Spears be given ownership rights to pictures her and her management find favorable.

“If they don’t rip up the contract, we’re not going to take any pictures,” photo editor at Dagens Nyhter Roger Turesson told Swedish newspaper The Local.

Expressen, Aftonbladet, and Svenska Dagbladet are among the other newspapers keeping their photographers out of the “Circus.” Newspapers in Denmark, where Spears will perform on Saturday, may follow the boycott as well.

“We never agree to give up ownership rights to our own material,” said Svenska Dagbladet photo editor Joakim St?hl.

Spears and her management drew up the contract and its conditions themselves.
